News 5: Renowned motivational speaker,
Bert Oliva, back in Belize

View Original Article

Renowned motivational speaker and entrepreneur Bert Oliva is back in Belize on a tour of the country.   Oliva is hosting a series of seminars and workshops on relationship building and self-empowerment through his motivational speeches.  The founder of Humanology, a new practice of teaching skill sets, has dedicated over two decades in studying human potential.  Today he was at the Jungle Pavilion at Old Belize where he presented before an audience of about two hundred men and women from various corporate entities.  His interactive style of engaging those in attendance was a spectacle complete with fire eating and dancing.  News Five spoke with Oliva who shared with us the various stops along his tour.

Bert Oliva, Motivational Speaker

“We’re doing an event and is mostly for the sponsors and people that wanted to really do something for themselves. But for the next couple of days—actually the next week and a half—we are doing the children of Belize; that’s our main focus. My role? I’ve been doing seminars for over twenty-one years and I came to this country three years ago and we did couple of event for a couple of the children in different parts of the country and I fell in love. I feel in love with the children, I feel in love with the country and we came last year and did over eight thousand children; we got a letter of recognition. So our goal this year is to do at least ten thousand children. And it is awesome because the children actually take action. We have been communicating with them with the social media and we have started to see a shift and the expansion of their belief system; that anything is possible. So what we teach is called humanology, the scientific study of human potential. I truly believe that everyone has a greatness inside of them. The only person that holds them back is ourselves. So through the tools and the techniques that we’ve done over twenty-one years all over the world, they actually get not only motivated—because motivation lasts momentarily—it is giving them the inspiration and the tools to maintain that motivation for a long period of time and create that change in our life.”

Oliva will be presenting to high school students from across Belize City on Wednesday at the Jungle Pavilion at Old Belize.

7 News Belize: Tapping The Potential Of Youths

View Original Article
By now, you – or more likely, your school children – may be very familiar with American Bert Oliva. Last year, he provided motivational speeches for almost 8,000 students across the country. And, he’s back; this time he wants to motivate 10,000 students.

Today, he dropped by to speak to us a little bit about what he has planned for the third year in trying to show the children that they are all potentialists.

Bert Oliva, Motivational Speaker
“We’ve been here 3 times, this is our third year and what we do is that we do as many children as we can. Last year we did 8,000, our goal is to get at least 10,000 this year. The plan is the same plan as last year – to be able to give them the inspiration that they already have because I truly believe that everyone has greatness inside of them. The only person that holds them back is themselves. So what we are going to do is give them the tools and techniques, its not just motivation, its not just words, we call it “edjutation” – education and entertainment put together, so that it will be fun, it will be exciting, but at the same time they will take tools and techniques home to apply for the next year or so, so they can start really take advantage of the opportunities and potential they have within themselves.”

Daniel Ortiz
“Sir, I’ve heard it commented many times that Belizeans tend to have a pessimistic type mentality. Have you encounter that with the kids?”

Bert Oliva, Motivational Speaker
“The funny thing is e think its the opposite. Three years ago when I came to Belize I realize that they were so open and they were really taking the information then that I’d been back for 3 years, so I don’t see pessimist, I see very strong optimistic children and adults too.”

Tomorrow, Oliva will kick of the new mission called “Motivational Missionaries” Tour 2014, where he will speak to the first group of potentialists at the Old Belize.

2013: San Ignacio Resort & Hotel:
I Am Belize

“Make it Happen, I am Belize” was the mantra shouted by the students of San Ignacio who attended the finale of the Motivational Missionaries Tour 2013. The children were motivated and inspired to follow their dreams by using unconventional team building methods, the speaker Bert of the Potentialist’s, called breakthroughs.  These breakthroughs included, bending 3/8 steel with your throat, swallowing fire and walking across broken pieces of glass.

Ryan Carbajal, one of the children who bent the steel with his throat, said, “I am so proud of myself because I did something that I didn’t know that I could do.” Ryan also went on to say, “Once it’s in your mind you can do it.”

Arming Vasquez, the other child who bent the steel with his throat, also said, “We bent it and it was so good. I still don’t know how we did it!”

These statements from the children are a prime example of what effect positive reinforcement and motivation has on our youth here in Belize. San Ignacio Resort Hotel is grateful to have been a part of such an inspiring event. Let’s keep this momentum going and keep our youth uplifted because THEY ARE BELIZE.
